PRESS RELEASE (33) DVSC LAUNCHES ITS 2021-22 YOUTH LED GRANT

[Please scroll down for Welsh]

Ruthin – 26 July 2021 - DVSC is delighted to launch its 2021-22 Youth Led Grant. A total of £4,960 is available to support a range of small volunteering projects and activities, led and carried out by young people which contribute towards the seven Well-being of Future Generations Act (2015) goals.

For many young people the past year has been incredibly hard with changes to social and education life. Here at DVSC we wish to continue with our support for projects that can help young people in our communities. Our aim is to continue to fund young people in the area who have bright ideas on how they wish to solve some of the key challenges facing young people.

Our Youth led Grants have been enabled by funding from the Welsh Government. The purpose of the grant is to enable youth led activity to contribute towards the seven Well-being of Future Generations Act (2015) goals. The Act is unique to Wales attracting interest from countries across the world as it offers a huge opportunity to make a long-lasting, positive change to current and future generations.

The Well-being of Future Generations Act requires public bodies in Wales to think about the long-term impact of their decisions, to work better with people, communities and each other, and to prevent persistent problems such as poverty, health inequalities and climate change.

“The past year has been an incredibly difficult time for young people across the county and as we now hopefully come back to some normality in day to day life we must actively strive to improve the well-being of Wales” explains Rhys Hughes Enterprise and Learning Officer at DVSC. “This grant will allow an independent youth panel made up of local young people the chance to judge each application to decide if the would benefit people of their age in the county”

The deadline for this years grant round is the 13th of September with a decision made on applications later that month.

To apply for the grant, fill out DVSC’s online application here.
