Wellbeing News (32) - Together for Mental Health

Together for Mental Health is the Welsh Government’s 10-year strategy to improve mental health and well-being, and is implemented through three-year delivery plans which set out the key actions for the Welsh Government and stakeholder agencies in the statutory and third sectors.

Implementation is assured through Partnership Boards at national and local levels, and progress is reported publicly through annual reports produced by the Welsh Government, and Integrated Medium Term Plans (IMTPs) of the local health boards and NHS Trusts.

To support the development of the next phase of the North Wales Mental Health Strategy and also the Together for Mental Health delivery plan and the planning required for the implementation it has been agreed that the North Wales Together for Mental Health Partnership Board is re-launched, with membership and terms of reference refreshed to ensure if reflects the right level of system leadership to achieve the vision and ambition for mental health across North Wales.

Individuals who represent people with a lived experience of a mental health condition are invited to apply to sit on the board, this gives the opportunity to have a truly representative voice of people with a lived experience a voice on the board. We are inviting expressions of interest for 1 service user and 1 carer positions to be sent to caniad@caniad.org.uk no later than 30/04/2019 Interviews will be held the 21/05/2019, venue to be confirmed.

Main duties and Responsibilities

The partnership board will meet on a quarterly basis, and you will be expected to attend the National Partnership Forum which is held quarterly across Wales. To ensure the flow of information you will be expected to attend North Wales Service User Forum on a by monthly basis.

  • Adopt a democratic approach

  • Engage as part of a team

  • Undertake any actions with which you have been tasked in a timely manner

  • Make collective decisions about the governance of the Partnership Board

  • Represent the Partnership Board at regional and national level as required

  • Actively participate in any meeting or event attended and present your views and those of other local participants/representatives when asked to do so

  • Attend meetings of local participant groups to collect their views and concerns and feed this information to the Partnership Board

  • Provide feedback to other representatives at local network meetings on decisions and service improvements so that they are kept up to date with developments

  • Understand and adhere to all Partnership Board policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines relevant to this role

  • Take responsibility for your own learning and attend any training opportunities that may be made available for your personal development

Requirements for the role:

  • Be currently using mental health or substance misuse services, or have done so in the recent past, or be a carer or family member of someone who has used services in that period.

  • Have a non-judgemental approach and have a positive regard for the values and beliefs of others

  • Have an enthusiastic and supportive approach to engaging as part of a team

  • Be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including: people who use services, carers, other professionals, and members of the public

  • Have the ability to respond appropriately to challenging situations and respond and behave in a professional manner

  • Be aware of and adhere to confidentiality guidelines

  • Be able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy and show respect for others

  • To promote a positive image of the Partnership Board to service users and stakeholders

Desirable Attributes

  • Have experience of facilitating groups

  • Have been involved in consultations

  • Be able to write a feedback report

  • Have experience of giving presentations.

  • Have a sound understanding of strategic development

  • Have good IT skills, as the Partnership Board documentation and correspondence will be via email

Expectations

  • Delegates will be expected to commit to a minimum role commitment of 24 months

I ategu at ddatblygu cam nesaf Strategaeth Iechyd Meddwl Gogledd Cymru a hefyd gynllun cyflenwi Law yn Llaw at Iechyd Meddwl a'r cynllunio sydd ei angen i'w rhoi ar waith, cytunwyd y dylai Bwrdd Partneriaeth Law yn Llaw at Iechyd Meddwl Gogledd Cymru gael ei ail-lansio, gydag aelodaeth a chylch gorchwyl ar eu newydd wedd i sicrhau ei fod yn adlewyrchu lefel gywir aelodaeth system er mwyn cyflawni'r weledigaeth a'r uchelgais ar gyfer iechyd meddwl ar draws Gogledd Cymru.

Gwahoddir unigolion sy'n cynrychioli pobl â phrofiad byw o gyflwr iechyd meddwl i wneud cais i fod yn aelod o'r bwrdd; mae hyn yn gyfle i gael llais sydd wirioneddol yn cynrychioli llais y bobl sydd â phrofiad byw ar y bwrdd. Rydym yn gwahodd datganiadau o ddiddordeb ar gyfer un ddefnyddiwr gwasanaeth a un swydd gofalwr i gael eu hanfon at caniad@caniad.org.uk heb fod yn hwyrach na 30/04/2019. Caiff cyfweliadau eu cynnal 21/05/2019, a chaiff y lleoliad ei gadarnhau.
