Wellbeing News (16) - Learning Disability Wales looking for applications to join the Welsh youth Par

Learning Disability Wales is looking for young disabled people to join the new Welsh Youth Parliament

Applications are now open for young disabled people interested in being a Welsh Youth Parliament Member and representing the views of other young disabled people.

Wales will be launching the first youth parliament in January 2019 and Learning Disability Wales is one of the partner organisations supporting young disabled people to have a voice.

About the Welsh Youth Parliament

  • 60 young people will make up the Welsh Youth Parliament.

  • 40 young people will be elected from constituency areas.

  • 20 young people will be elected through partner organisations.

  • They will be the Youth Parliament Member for 2 years from January 2019 to December 2021.

  • Young people must be aged 11 to 17.

  • Young people must live in Wales or be educated in Wales.

Learning Disability Wales will be electing 2 young people to represent young disabled people.

Getting involved through Learning Disability Wales

Who we are looking for?
  • Someone between the ages of 11 and 17 (No older than 17 on November 25th 2018).

  • A young disabled person.

  • Someone who can listen to others.

  • Someone who is good at communicating (using their own way of communication).

  • Someone who will ask for support if needed.

  • Someone with good people skills.

  • Someone who can be reliable with the correct support.

We are not looking for someone who is perfect already. There may be things that you are not sure about or would need training in. Please do not let this put you off applying.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on November 1st 2018.
