Press Release (6) - #AutismAwareAutumn Campaign & Community Grant

DVSC launches its #AutismAwareAutumn Campaign & Community Grant

DVSC is delighted to be building on its highly successful Spring Autism Awareness

campaign with an #AutismAwareAutumn campaign supported by a Community Grant programme for Denbighshire based Voluntary and community groups.

Helen Wilkinson, DVSC’s Chief Executive says: “Thanks to support from the North Wales Integrated Autism Service we are now scaling up our activity. With this initiative, we are reaching out beyond our core members and partners to the public, local businesses, indeed everyone with a stake in #Denbighshire to visit our office and find about our #AutismAwareAutumn campaign.”

People living and working in Denbighshire – alongside local businesses and employers – are being positively encouraged to:

  • Visit our online resource hub where you can access a range of resources, and complete the Autism Awareness questionnaire. It doesn’t take much time and your actions could make a big difference to someone’s life

  • Engage with the campaign via social media by following us on twitter, and facebook, and help spread the word using the hashtags #AutismAwareAutumn, #AutismFriendlyDenbighshire

  • Pop in to the Naylor Leyland Centre in Ruthin to find out about the campaign and pick up supporting materials. The office is open from 0830 in the morning to 1630. You can also see our efforts to make DVSC’s offices Autism Friendly, speak to a member of the team, do the online questionnaire, and we can print out your certificate, take a photo of you with it and share on social media as part of awareness raising throughout Autumn

  • Individuals or organisations can also support the campaign financially through DVSC’s Local Giving page using the hashtag #AutismAwareAutumn. Every pound donated will be used and reinvested in our campaign activities

Alongside the campaign, we are hosting a FREE Autism Awareness Taster Session on Wednesday 28th November, 10am-12pm with an opportunity to network at DVSC’s Naylor Leyland Centre, Well Street Ruthin, LL15 1AF.

Community Grants of between £1,500 - £3,000 are specifically available to deliver services and activities for adults with an Autism diagnosis. The deadline for applications is the end of October, with funded activities taking place from November 2018 to March 2019.

Whether you are a third sector organisation, a member of the public or a local business, or a public sector partner, there are lots of ways to become involved with DVSC this Autumn.

Here’s to working together for an #AutismAwareAutumn. Let’s make the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness abundant with #AutismAwareness too!
