A massive thank you to everyone who came to the Naylor Leyland Centre in Ruthin for the #DenbighshireVolunteers Third Sector Network meeting. There was an excellent turn out and it was lovely to see such a broad range of people coming together to share ideas and information on what is happening across the sector and in our local communities.

We covered a wide range of topics which nicely complemented the broad scope of needs across the Network.

Welcoming Mair Davies to her role as Volunteering and Wellbeing Development Officer at DVSC. Mair is the key contact for this Network moving forward so if you want to present or have an idea about how we can work together let her know!

We discussed DVSC’s leadership role supporting Trustees week 4th – 8th November 2019 and asked anyone planning on celebrating Trustees Week to get in contact with us and share photos and names of Denbighshire Trustees you want us to celebrate and shout about on social media. (Please ensure you have photo consents!). Looking ahead, we ask everyone to be proactive on various social media platforms whilst tagging us, and we will share on Facebook and twitter. Do contact us if you would like us to promote your event.

DVSC gave an update on the Dementia Aware Community Led programme, including information on our Dementia Aware Business Breakfasts and the Dementia Aware Community Action Groups that are in the process of being formed in Ruthin and Rhyl. The award winners of the latest successful grant funding round of Dementia Aware Community Led Programme will be announced this month and we are pleased to announce that Welsh Government has just approved another round of Dementia Aware Community led grants. Watch this Space!

A presentation was given by Nia Baker, DVSC’s, Sector Development Officer on the Adult Learning Wales, Level 2 NCFE Award Supporting Volunteers Training currently running for the 2nd time this year at the Naylor Leyland Centre. We discussed why good governance is important and what documentation your organisation may need when working with Volunteers and we briefed on how DVSC can support volunteers and organisations in ensuring best practice. We also provided an update on upcoming courses and events hosted by DVSC.

Abi Davies, DVSC’s Business Support Administrator provided a comprehensive presentation on how to use the DenbighshireVolunteers.net digital platform to signpost volunteers to volunteering posts and how you can use it to advertise volunteer roles, to assist your organisation’s good governance requirements and log volunteer stories that can help promote your volunteering roles.

Digital Friday Sessions at Naylor Leyland Centre are now held the 1st Friday of the month. Come along to get help with anything around the use of the DenbighshireVolunteers.net, Funding Wales, and Info Engine sites and any other technical support that you may need. As a signatory to the Digital Inclusion Charter, we are passionate about the potential of technology to change people’s lives for the better and want to support people to develop skills in a friendly supportive way.

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 18th December 2019 10am-11.30am at the Naylor Leyland Centre, please do come along to network, chat and keep informed. We look forward to seeing you there!
