Celebratory Shout Andrew McMorine

Vale of Clwyd Mind could not sustain its wide range of projects without the help of its dedicated volunteers.

But our organisation would like to nominate one person who has shown particular courage in his volunteering activities.

Andy McMorine is a big man with an even bigger heart.

He retired early from his job at Vauxhall due to ill health and has overcome several TIAs (mini strokes). But he has not let mobility problems get in the way of helping others.

We hold weekly drop in sessions throughout Denbighshire for people with mental health problems. Andy has become involved as a volunteer with social groups in Denbigh, Ruthin and Llangollen and is now a key member of the team, offering much needed advice and support. He has become invaluable as that all important ‘listening ear’ in the group setting.

He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our members and recently supported a member with several complex financial needs.

Andy is also a keen supporter of our allotment project in Ruthin.

He achieves all that during the week! At weekends throughout the summer he provides extra support when we are out and about at local shows with DORIS (Denbighshire Outreach Rural Information Service).

We believe that his ability to overcome his own problems to help others is an inspiration to others and is helping them to see that anything is possible whatever your circumstances.
