Bethan is a Young Carer to her mum and alongside the care she gives to her mum, whilst other 15 year old's may be spending their time online or hanging out with friends, Bethan has opened a Karate Club to help adults and children in Denbighshire. She is a fantastic role model to the kids she works with and is proof that if you work hard enough you can achieve anything. She was nominated by a parent of one of the children in her club. Hear what she had to say below:

Bethan’s mam has severe epilepsy…whilst being a young carer, at the age of 12, Bethan became a qualified karate instructor and opened her own club to help other adults and children in the Denbighshire area.

As many clubs are so expensive Bethan only charges a small fee to cover the cost of the hall and does not receive a wage. She has won an award from the Prime minister (Points of Light Award 2017) but is yet to receive recognition in her own country of Wales.

She works hard running 5 classes a week on top of her school work. She is now 15 and training towards her 3rd degree Black Belt and whenever she wins competitions she uses her winnings to run awards for her classes.

She helps many people who otherwise would not be able to do this martial art and feels that a lot of talent could be missed due to how expensive other clubs are. Bethan also deals with many issues at the club and the place is also like a meeting place for the local community that you are very welcome to visit at any time.
