I have been employed by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service for nearly 29 years. I am presently employed as a Computer Aided Designer; the main feature of my work is graphic design. I design a wide variety of design work from posters, booklets, flyers, to maps, logos and illustrations both for print and web.

In 2003 I fulfilled a lifelong ambition to gain an Open University BA degree after studying for 4 years. The areas I studied were of a personal interest to me, design in all its facets, from graphic, architectural, product design and design principles and practice to art history and heritage.

I have had a lifelong passion for art, from a young child I spent hours pouring over pen and ink drawings, inspired by the woodcuts of Tunnicliffe. In past years I continued as a practicing artist, exhibiting and selling my work in a local gallery, working in different media from pen and ink to gouache, chalk pastel, painting on silk, calligraphy and garden design. In recent years I have spent more time on digital projects. In 2012 I researched, wrote, illustrated and self- published a cycling guide, called ‘Jewel on the Wnion – Cycling in and around Dolgellau’. It’s now in its second edition. As well as cycling I enjoy hiking and landscape photography. I am also a keen amateur gardener and allotment holder. I can spend all day gardening and still enjoy it!

Over the years I have enjoyed a variety of voluntary work from archaeological illustration, bookbinding, to National Trust voluntary working holidays. For over 17 years I have participated in the annual Dr Barnardo’s 20 mile sponsored Barmouth walk. It not only helps a worthwhile charity but also keeps the participants fitter and healthier! I have enjoyed the work I have recently been involved in for DVSC developing the logo for their new website, www.denbighshirevolunteers.net and for their Open Doors Project. It’s always challenging and stimulating coming up with new designs and a real satisfaction when they come to fruition.
